 * His mother : Ja'afar
* His father : Imam al- Baqer ibn Ali ibn hussain ibn Ali ibn abi-taleb .
* His mother : Fatemah bint al- Qassem ibn Muhammed ibn abi-bakr .
* His nickname & byname : Abu-Abdullah , Abu-Esmael , Abu-Mosa , al- Saber , al- Taher , al- Sadeq , al- Munji , al-Kafel .
* His description : pink face , ulotrichous and very black hair , soft skin , had black nevus on his cheek , red nevuses on his body .
* His ring inscription : " God is my sponsor and my preservation from all his creature " .
* Place & Time of his birth : it was at sunrise on Friday 17 Rabia 1 in 83 H in Madina .
* The Period of his age & imamate : he was 65 years old and his imamate was 34 years .
* Date & Plac of his martyrdom : it was in Shawal 25 in 148 H in Madina .
His Behavior ( peace be upon him )
1- Forgiveness is nearest to godliness :
One day , a man came to Abu-Abdullah and said : " one man talked to about you and he said you have every bad adjective like encounter and swearword "
Abu-Abdullah said to his maid : " bring water to me to do my cleanliness " then he did entered .
I said to my self :" he imprecates him " .
Imam prayed 2 raka'as then said : " Oh' God , it is my right which you gave it to me , and you more generous than me , so give him to me , don't punish him " .
Then Imam was softhearted and he still prayed but I was wondering .
2- Quest for sustenance :
From Abi Amr al- Shibani said : " I saw Abu- Abdullah with swob in his hands and he wore a heavy wrapper . He was working in his farm and his wet until his back then I said to him " let me helped you " but he said " I liked a man who harmedin the hot of the sun when he quests for sustenance " .
His Miracles :
1- With wild animals :
From Abi Hazem Abdulgafar ibn al-Hassan said : " Ibraheem ibn Adham came to Kuffa and I was with him , it was at al- Mansour days , also Abu-Abdullah Ja'afar ibn Muhammed al- Alawi came .
Go back to Madina , all goody men and Ulama went with him , Sufian al- Thawri and Ibraheem ibn Adham were there . Suddenly , a lion was in the road .
Ibraheem ibn Adham said : " stop till Ja'afar comes and we will see what he does ."
Imam Ja'afar comes and they told him about the lion . He comes near to the lion and he touches lion's ear until he put him aside from the road .
Then he comes to them and said " If people obey Allah – truth obedience - , they carry their heavy to him ."
2- Bird language :
Jaber said : " Iwas with Abu-Abdullah and we went out ( me and my friend ) , we saw a man putting a young goat on the floor to slaughter him and the goat screams , Abu-Abdullah said to the man : " what is the price of this ? "
The man said : " 4 dirhams ."
Then Imam gave him the price and said : " release him "
We walked then we saw a francolin was chased by a falcon . When francolin screams , Abu-Abdullah signals to the falcon and he goes back Isaid : " we saw something strange from you "
Imam said : " yes, the man wanted to slaughter a goat , the goat said when he saw me : " I protect my self by God and by you ahlulbayt from what was wanted to do to me , also the francolin said the same . If our shia are straightness , I let them heard the bird language ."
His Martyrdom ( his death ) :
He died in Shawal 148 H when al-Mansour feed him a poison grapes and he was 65 or 68 years old .
